Canoe trip

David and I volunteered to go with the young men and young women on a canoe trip down the Bear Creek Canoe Run in Hackleburg, Alabama. It is about 1 hour and 45 minutes away from Columbus. After I volunteered us to go I started hearing the other women talk about alligators and snakes in the rivers. I freaked out and i asked the YW president if there are really alligators and snakes in the water. All she would say is that they wouldn't take the youth anywhere they would get hurt. I didn't like that answer but we went anyway. Lucky for us, there were no alligators or snakes (they are in the rivers in Columbus though) but there were spiders. I hate spiders and I freaked out a few times on the ride. David thought it was amuzing.
There were 15 of us all together. Here are some of the youth that came with us.
I think in the end only two of them tipped themselves over. It was gorgeous where we went. It was green everywhere.

This is David and I at the end of the 4 1/2 hour canoe trip! I was so tired at the end. It was hot and humid and we ran out of water. The last 30 minutes I just wanted to be done. I am glad I volunteered us to go though.

The scenery is beautiful.

I don't handle heat and humidity well. I wouldn't have been a fun traveling companion.

What a good sport you both are. I am with you on the spider thing. I hate spiders with a passion. Yuck!
