Roast n' Boast and Ray's Place

David and I got all excited when we heard about the Roast n' Boast in town. It was the state BBQ championships and the Jack Daniels qualifier. We thought it would be fun to go see the big BBQ'ers (is that a word, probably not, sorry Erin) and get to taste some great food. We were in town so we stopped by early and looked around and asked a guy what exactly you do at a Roast n' Boast. He said you get to eat good food and to come back later and get a wristband. Check out what we saw....
Yes, the grill is in the hood of an old truck, it was awesome!

This grill was just huge, and then David saw this...

kind of freaky but we thought we were going to be able to try some great food. So we came back with our friends later on and we had to pay $5 for a wristband. That was the worst money I ever spent. No one told us that you have to be family or friends of one of the contestants to try their food or be specially invited. We paid $5 to look at people cook and walk through little tents of people trying to sell stuff. We were all so hungry so we left and ate at PJ's BBQ. It wa delicious!

I know we are blurry but the sign is in focus! The two adorable little kids are our friends little ones. They are so fun; make me miss my nieces and nephews but so fun!

The next night David and I got to go with the youth on their stake activity! We drove to Booneville, MS, which is about 1 hour 45 minutes away, to Ray's Place.

It was an old cabin where the kids got to go on hay rides, have a good BBQ dinner, play volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, bean bag toss, and make smores. It was a lot of fun. At the end they had line dancing which the girls made me do (I secretly wanted to as well). It was a ton of fun!

I wan't quite sure what I was supposed to be doing. Those are two of my girls, Jackie and Stephanie.

There are about 10 wards/branches in our stake and we had about 75 youth come. Some of our wards/branches are in Alabama. It is so weird to think about that. My stake growing up had 5-6 wards and we all lived in the same neighborhood.

It was a great night for the youth and a fun one for David and I. I made him slow dance with me!
